I'm always at a loss when hearing about these stories. Unfortunately, I've known a similar situation too intimately. While it didn't affect my immediate family, I feel this too much. As we speak, I'm thinking about my cousin who died 2 years ago, whose father also died 2 years before he did. It was the craziest thing ever. I tried to rationalize everything that happened and I couldn't. In his last days, my cousin's father (my stepuncle for all intents and purposes) was seen roaming the ave, doing nothing but hanging around groceries stores drunk and smoking. He looked debilitated, a walking ghost. It was nuts. My cousin? Well, after leaving jail, he was also roaming around, not caring too much about himself.

Everything was about reforming himself when he went to jail, but self-rehabilitation is a hard process, and one that few people actually recover from. With that said, I hope that your brother finds peace. Unlike my family, he has support of some nature, and that's a start. You know where to reach me.
